The Wave Bioreactor™/Cellbag™ disposable bioreactor system has revolutionized cell culture since its origin in 1996. It provides a simple, single-use, scalable system for culture volumes from 100ml to over 500 liters. It has displaced the traditional stirred tank as the cultivation device of choice for many applications.

The Wave Bioreactor is widely used in commercial and R&D applications for the production of cell-derived products using animal, insect, plant, microbial, and virus culture. Over 200 companies worldwide use the Wave Bioreactor in GMP and non-GMP applications. In addition, many academic institutions and hospitals use it for the production of research materials and reagents.

The Wave Research Initiative (WRI) is the first program of this type in the bioreactor industry.
